When businesses begin, there are always questions. Where can I get my inventory? How much should I charge? How do I market? Is this a good business idea? Before signing a lease or buying inventory, it is a good idea to discuss your business with a mentor. Mentors act as sounding boards for your ideas. They help you problem solve. They provide reassurance and comfort in that your business has been vetted by someone who has done it before. This article offers good advice about choosing and beginning a relationship with a mentor.

Micro Solutions Gets your Business Moving
Despite the best efforts of many people, credit is scarce. Small businesses are finding it harder and harder to obtain the capital they need. Budding entrepreneurs are having their hopes dashed. For these reason, Beans and Rice, Inc. began the Micro Solutions program.
As part of a joint effort between many partners including Department of Housing and Community Development, Small Business Development Center and the town and county, Micro Solutions provides financing and business training to new and existing enterprises in Pulaski County. Micro Solutions seeks to create jobs through sustainable small businesses and micro enterprises.
Micro Solutions offers two financial products for Pulaski county entrepreneurs. Micro Credit is a $300 -$3000 dollar line of credit to purchase business inventory and equipment. Micro Solutions also offers a larger Micro Loan, $3000 to $35,000. Micro Loan uses include equipment or inventory, working capital, and expansion of a Pulaski County business.
“Roots,” a comprehensive business course, helps entrepreneurs grow customer bases, cultivate products and services, and yield profits. It offers classes in such areas as cash flow planning, understanding market needs, and how to plan and operate for success.
Finally, Micro Solutions provides one-on-one business counseling to its clients. Our micro enterprise specialists help clients prepare the loan application, discuss business planning, and coaches in business operations. These sessions provide a business owner with expertise in real-world business issues.
